Before you go to the doctors do some research online, look at pictures of genital warts and compare them to yours. The warts sould be either flesh colored or gray and resemble a cauliflower. Genital warts can sometimes be caused by HPV which could also cause cervical cancer. I know some information about it because my mother had genital warts when she was about your age, and then after her third child she developed cervical cancer and had to have a hyserectamy. Good luck at the doctors && if you find out its not genital warts ask your doctor about getting the HPV vaccination (Gardasil). Gardasil is the only cervical cancer vaccine that helps protect against 4 types of HPV.

I know it will be tough – but try not to freak out until you know. There is no sense in worrying about things you don’t even know yet. There could be a number of different things that it could be.

I know cause I’ve been in your shoes. I once found a strange bump down there, that I was so scared was HPV. I went to two different doctors to make sure that it wasn’t. What it turned out to be was a sebacious cyst, which are very common in women, and usually go away on their own after a few weeks. You might have this. Once i found out what this was, I was so relieved, but I also felt sort of dumb for freaking myself out the whole time. So just try not to freak out until you know what it is.

Also, something else to ease your mind — HPV is not the end of the world. Doctors say that in most cases, HPV completely leaves the body within 1-2 years. So even if you have it, you could be completely rid of it in less than 2 years. Just learn from this experience in the future. Always practice safer sex.

    Don’t worry – you’ll be just fine.
