I would have seen a vet alot sooner. I would call the vet and ask if the rice and cooked plain hamburger is worth a shot.

Pumpkins are supposedly good for both constipation and diarrhea. Sounds unbelievable since they are two opposite problems, but that’s what I heard.

Tuesday is a long time to wait, since he’s had diarrhea for 2 weeks already. I would take him to an emergency clinic, as he is going to dehydrate very quickly. (if not already dangerously dehydrated)

It may be Parvo that he has, and if that’s the case, he needs IMMEDIATE treatment.

Try adding canned pumpkin. Not the pie filling! This is very high in fiber and along with the yogurt should help him have more normal stools. I would cut his kibble ration down a little bit until his vet appt. He could be having a reaction to something in the food.

Change his dog food and do not add any water to it. I don’t think he has Parvo, there are usually toher symptoms with that. DO NOT give him human food, just dry dog food and water so he does not get dehydrated. He may just have worms. Try not to panic. If the dry dog food doesn’t help try some childrens pepto and give him a small human dose. This has happened to one of my dogs and he ate one of my daughters crayons which made him very sick.
    Good luck!

I used to work for a vet clinic and if it’s not anything too major, for that size and age of the dog, you can give it a quarter piece of chewable pepto bismol. Also, oatmeal may help. The yogurt will definitely make it worse, so I wouldn’t give it anymore. Hope this helps

One more vote for canned pumpkin. I have heard this from many sources. I hope everything works out ok with him.

I would take into consideration is how long has this been going on, how long have you had the dog, is there other food that he’s eating (like left out cat food) and are there any stressors since before he started with the diarrhea?

If you were giving him yogurt and it made the diarrhea worse, it can take two days to clear from his system. If there have been changes in the home, new person, new furniture, new home, someone is gone who was there before, or you just recently adopted him….thse are all things that can stress a dog out and cause diarrhea. My Min Pin had diarrhea for a month after adopting him..probably from the stress and possibly changing the food he was given.

You may also consier your dog may have an allergy to the dry food you’re feeding him. you could try switching him to a different brand or something that has no grains (most common food allergy).

The only fast immediate answer you’re going to be able to use is make sure the dog stay s hydrated and it’ll be okay with having diarrhea as long as he drinks plenty of water. If he’s not drinking enough water than he could dehydrate and would recommend bumping his vet appointment sooner. any of the other issues I mentioned that may be the cause will work itself out with time, or switching the food…again this will take time.
