5 week old with viral meningitis?

My 5 week old baby was hospitalized with viral meningitis a few days ago. we was released from hospital and I still sit and worry about this. They did say that she would continue to run a fever for a few days but just to keep giving her medication for that and her fussiness. I honestly don’t think they would have dismissed us if they wouldn’t have though she was okay, would they? This stuff is soo scary.

It is scary, but no, they wouldn’t release your baby and take the chance of spreading it to the community. They should have instructed you to follow up with your baby’s pediatrician, which you should definitely do. I understand your concern, but just do what the physicians say and if you have a question or concern, call the pediatricians office and ask them. Sorry I can’t give you more solid advice, but I really don’t think they would have discharged your baby sooner than necessary!
