we have been friends for pushing 9 years now we have both cared about each other for a long time but never acted on it because we were such good friends and our other friends are immature to say the least (one is obsessed with her). and we also told each other we wouldnt do anything until we were both in a place were we could have a serious relationship. but any way i believe she has genital warts (hpv) we were talking and i cant remember how we got on the subject but she thought they went away after treatment then i told her no they can lay dormant for years then show signs. she also just went through cervical cancer and i recently learned that it is the same virus. if she does have it is there ANYTHING that i or she can do so i wont get it? ANYTHING this is killing me…

I could be very wrong, but as I’m aware, there is not. Even if it is in dormant stages, she will always have the virus. You are also very likely to get it w/ sex, sometimes even with using condoms. Also, I was taught in school that it can pass to a child being born, as it passes through the birth canal. There are meds to alleviate symptoms but not to completely eradicate the disease.

You can wear a condom. She can also talk to her GYN about ways to protect you.
It does not pass onto babies going through the birt canal.

well this is a hard question…….well if it was me ill still have her as my dearest friend and ill go with her to get tested to comfert her if she is positive……i kind of wouldnt want to date her but she would still be my best chick friend or ill date her and not have sex with her [unless i cant get the virus through oral] but if she was negative ill date her and have sex with her……its kind of hard to help you good luck and follow your mind and always be her friend if somthing if you dont want to date her….advice from a 13yr old….
