Am I being a hypochondriac freak to worry that I could have a stroke at 17?

Article Tools

I’ve never been the hypochondriac type at all, quite the , and I’m not usually prone to , but over the summer I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease, and today at my doctor’s she said that my blood pressure had suddenly spiked up. It was extremely high the first time they took it, then they did it again after I’d been sitting for a while (because sucked getting there and I’d been stressed) and it was better, but it was still 134/100 and she said that put me at risk for a stroke. And she had my go buy a thing for me. Part of the high is because of the I’m taking, she said, and they’ve changed the dose. She didn’t tell me anything else to do. I’m a and a vegetarian and am only 110 pounds at 5’9 so I’m definitely not fat. I’m like freaking out right now that I’m going to have a stroke or something in my . I’m FREAKING. What should I do?

    try tackling your anxiety.
    start talking to a psychologist.

check out this website to also help you with your anxiety.

i also just tried this today for my anxiety.
put a rubber band on your wrist and when ever you feel like your freaking out, snap the band. not too much to hurt yourself, but just do it to make yourself more alert and to calm down. then take a deep breath and breathe from your belly (like a baby, compared to breathing from your chest).

maybe look up different breathing methods, such as meditation, and if you have time, squeeze in yoga to help you relax.

    good luck :]

    134/100 really isnt THAT high.
It’s high, but i’ve seen alot higher.
i am a nursing aide and was a nursing student for a year and i’ve taken blood pressures that were 180/112.

You are going to be okay. Stressing out just makes you feel sick and raises your BP.
    Try to relax hun.
