Ammonia in the bottle could wake up a fainted woman that has a heart disease?

I saw in movies that every time that someone tries to wake up someone s/he has a bottle of a substance that irritates the nose then that someone wakes up. Was it inside that bottle? If not, please answer what it is. And could that gas wake up someone who has a that just spontaneously fainted? Please answer for she is my and I care about her.

    it is dangerous to use liquor ammonia in patients with heart disease and in real coma (not responding to painful stimuli)
