Are birth control pills that reduce your period to 4 times a year bad for you?

Article Tools

I am thinking about switching my pills and I would like to use the kind that you take for 3 months and get your period only 4x a year. My said her doctor told her they were bad because there is a reason a woman has her period every month to shed the lining or whatever. Is that true or false? Are they bad for you?

My doctor told me just the opposite. That there is no harm in not having a period. I don’t know why any one would want to have a period if they don’t have to. I’m on Depo and haven’t had one for 3 years. It’s been great.

yes, there is a chance you can have abnormal bleeding a lot, and i heard theres also a chance of bloodclotting.

you’ll need to talk to your doctor to see if your body can handle it.

Well I would probably go with what the doctor says.
