    Nothing ambiguous when read carefully.

    That is is an antioxidant is proven.

    Antioxidants may help in fighting cancer and lung disease.

    When the term MAY is used, there is always the unstated implication that it also MAY NOT.

    So the second part of the statement is unambiguous when you understand the correct use of the word MAY.
